Recognize anyone in the photo?? Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. This photograph, probably taken by Mitchell County photographer Jim Jones, is one of many that we want to preserve. The mission of the Mitchell County Historical Society is to collect, preserve, protect, and publicly display material that is historically significant to Mitchell County. The society also strives to make the citizens of Mitchell County aware of their heritage. This is what our scan days are all about! Dig out those old photos of your family and have them preserved digitally for your descendants and future generations of our Mitchell County family. We will also provide professional genealogy help if you want to learn more about your family tree! Join us from 10am to 3pm on February 4th and February 18th. On February 4th, we will be at the Historic Mitchell County Courthouse where our offices are located. On February 18th, we will be on Lower Street in Spruce Pine at the Spruce Pine Main Street Building. You are welcome to visit either of these days. In case of snow our make-up day will be February 25, 2017. We look forward to seeing you!
