Kona

This “scientific” community in west central Mitchell County is located near the junction of the North Toe and South Toe Rivers. Although there are several variations of how the community was named, the word Kona is actually short for the chemical makeup of feldspar. K for potassium, O for oxygen, and Na for sodium. Kona is also renowned as the home of Frankie and Charlie Silvers.
