Spruce Pine Week 3

I got out around 6:00 p.m. today to run a couple of errands and grabbed photos of what things are like three weeks into the restrictions due to COVID-19.
Welcome to Mitchell County

Social Distancing Message
It notes the social distancing that is to take place
14 Day Quarantine
The sign also reminds of the 14 day quarantine if the visitor has been outside of Mitchell County for longer than 48 hours.
Gas Prices at Murphy
Gas prices haven’t been this low in years…but there aren’t a lot of places to go.
Walmart Entrance
Starting this week, stores like Walmart are restricting the number of people allowed in the store at one time.
Social Distancing Signs
Walmart reminds shoppers how much distance to keep between themselves with signs in the floor like this.
Walmart Meat Counter
Restrictions on some items for purchase continue at local merchants as supplies are constrained. Here is the meat counter at Walmart.
Burger King Closed
Restaurants are really suffering with restrictions that only allow pick-up and delivery. Some, like Burger King in Spruce Pine, have closed during the pandemic.

Burger King’s drive-through is blocked off during the closure.
El Ranchero Restaurant
Other restaurants, like El Ranchero on Locust (Lower) Street in Spruce Pine, are open for pick-up service only.

There are a few cars at El Ranchero but the street is basically deserted.

Oak Avenue (Upper Street) is deserted on Monday evening.

As I was leaving Spruce Pine Monday evening, I snapped this image of a deserted Oak Avenue (Upper Street). Strange times indeed!
